122 AE- Gift of life excerpt 5Listen, children! Daenur slammed the gavel down. I will not have you turning my justice hall into a circus.
Your what? Kiernes put her hand on her hip. Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you said 'justice hall.' Last time I checked, Daddy Kai has never had true justice in this beautiful prison.
Please excuse my sister, Adaias shoved his twin into her father. She has been gathering the courage to come here for years and her temper is...as legendary as some else's use to be, someone I believe you may have recognized based on your reaction earlier.
We are the spirit children of Andras and Kaeli.
The court burst out in laughter. Adaias glared at the amused elves. He watched as Daenur had to sit the hammer down to keep it from bouncing around. The younger twin looked at his sister, sharing thoughts with her.
'Is it time?'
'No, Adaias. They need to understand just how powerful our family is and how sorely mistaken they shoul
122 AE- Gift of life excerpt 4Kairain glanced at the children, his uneasy nature showing through in his eyes.
'Something is up. I know they have something planned and I don't think I'm going to like this. Kiernes and Adaias have always pushed the envelope as far as they could but how far are they going to go against The Council? I don't want to lose them and if they attack them my children could be taken away. Please, don't do something stupid!'
The twins strode majestically past the seven dual rows of benches. Kai watched carefully for any reaction from the various groups of elves from both kingdoms.
And what a reaction. Gasps could be heard as the elves caught sight of Kiernes.
She looks just like Kaeli. Kairain tuned in to the thoughts of the viewers.
How dare those outcasts cast a spell just to get a reaction.
What kind of magic is this?
How do you think it's going, Adaias?
They're angry at Dad for your appearance. But that's exactly what we want. We want th
122 AE- Gift of life excerpt 3And before Kai had time to fully appreciate the feeling of being loved absolutely, the harsh light bouncing off Tel'Lenmar, The Justice Hall's white marble exterior. Being the one that faced it, Kai turned away with a wince.
Where are we? Adaias asked, looking through the adults and teenagers surrounding them. Many elves were still walking into the chambers and gave the group a wide berth. A few faces were those of support, such as Duchess Nareetha Kerumil, Duke and Duchess Haljion and Maratheri Illas. Some of the faces were the council members who sneered at Kairain, turning the same expression on Andras and the three thirteen year olds who stood protectively around the youngest members.
Tel'Lenmar, Kaedian supplied. This is where Tel'Serant conducts their business.
It's huge! Kiernes wedged her way out of the protective circle. It's beautiful!
Stay here, Andras warned. I don't want to lose you.
122 AE- Gift of life excerpt 2Well get it taken care of, Kairain, Morakta interjected with a bored rolling of his eyes. I am responsible for all of you getting to the chambers and I would like to get this behind us so I can get back to my paperwork.
Right, because Kiernes told you and therefore you're another piece of this 'puzzle'. Kairain sat down on the floor, turning his back to the closest chair. Everyone watched him for a moment. Well? Kai turned around and gave Adaias and Kiernes a fatherly smile. The twins giggled, turning two of the chairs around and gabbing to themselves as they brushed the knots and unruly hairs back into position. Once Adaias had the knots taken care of he handed the brush to his sister, giving Kai a hug around his neck. Kai laughed, which incited a stern word from the young female elf. When the elder and younger male elf only let out another joyful laugh, Kiernes sat the brush down sharply on the black hair. With a chuckle Kai sat upright
122 AE- Gift of life excerptKairain Morionna, Tel'Serant wishes to speak with you regarding the children Kiernes and Adaias.
Kairain looked down sharply, fear and anger easily displayed in his eyes and posture. He pulled his shoulders together and turned away from Morakta, the speaker of Signotali. His breathing increased as he sat down, frowning at the innocent wood at the table.
Kairain? Are you all right?
How did they find out? It's a well guarded secret.
What secret would that be?
You're right, they couldn't possibly know...
How we were created? Kiernes stepped out of the hall way, her blonde and red tipped hair resting gently in curls on the top of her tan shirt. She twirled around, her dark brown skirt flying around her tiny seven year-old frame. She pulled her pointed elven ears from her light locks, tucking the hair behind the extended and delicate instruments.
Kai sighed, pushing his lazy man's bangs away from his eyes. Kiernes
